Traffic Unit:

The traffic safety unit enforces traffic laws and investigates crashes. The unit also responds to other traffic related matters. and provide community education. The unit provides information and community education at neighborhood meetings, schools and businesses.  In conjuction with the City Engineering Department, the unit analyzes traffic crash data in order to develop strategies and enforcement techniques to help ensure public safety on roadways. 

The traffic unit conducts special enforcement techniques related to speed enforcement, pedestrian safety and seat belt use.  Additionally, the unit evaluates routine and selective traffic enforcement activities to better deploy resources and ensure public safety. The unit performs at various events, and parades both in the city of Hillsboro and other cities around the area and as far as Roseburg and Medford.

The 5 officers in the unit receive specialized training including Drug Recognition Expert, Accident Reconstruction as well as being instructors in various traffic and DUII area.
