World Expedition |

Various Parks
25 volunteers needed for this Amazing Race style event. Selected parks will represent a “country” and participants will use GPS units to find treasure, eat native food, discover facts about indigenous people, and accomplish an adventure task!
Individual or groups of volunteers are needed to be managers at each “country”, and help out with the following tasks:
- assist with adventure challenges (mountain biking, rock wall climbing, etc.)
- provide rule enforcement
- tally scores
- serve native cuisine
- monitor overall event
Volunteers are also needed at the awards location (last stop) to verify team scores and clean up the event and announce the winners!
Mandatory volunteer meeting:

2012 ASA Girls Class A 14-Under Fast Pitch Western National Championship!
July 29th - August 3rd
The City of Hillsboro is hosting this year's 2012 ASA Girls 14A Western National Championship (softball tournament) and we need lots of volunteer support! Individuals and small teams of volunteers can sign up for 3 - 4 hour shifts. Volunteers will help out with ticketing, crowd control, litter pick up and other areas to help ensure a successful tournament.
July 30th - Opening Ceremonies
20 Volunteers Needed
11:30 am - 10:00 pm (3 - 4 hour shifts available)
Volunteers will help out in the hospitality area, help serve lunch, assist with softball team entrances, team pictures, and help clean up to prepare for the next round of events!
August 1st - Skills Contest
20 Volunteers Needed
6:00 pm - 9:00 pm (TBD)
Volunteers will help out at different stations as individuals compete in bunting, home run, base running & throwing contests! Bring your softball or baseball mitt and help shag balls in the various contest arenas!
Celebrate Hillsboro
Saturday, July 21st

Shift #2: 12:30 pm - 5:00 pm
25 volunteers needed to help out with this fun, free, community event! Volunteers are needed to help monitor the kids area, bouncy houses, art & craft tents, and assist in the sustainably area. This is a great event for groups and individuals.
Celebrate Hillsboro Event Set-Up
Friday, July 20th
6 pm - 8 pm
15 volunteers needed to set up tents, signs, recycling stations, and other event needs. This is a great project for yourth/service groups! |
Summer Opportunities |
The Outpost at Shute Park
June - August
Monday - Friday
10:30 am - 1:30 pm
10 volunteers are needed to help out with this free eight week summertime activity and lunch program to benefit members of the community. Volunteers can assist with arts & crafts, water games, sports activities, serve free lunches, and other fun scheduled events. Help out with Water Wednesdays of Science Thursdays! A weekly commitment is preferred - Volunteer one or two days each week or pick one week and come every day!
All Comers Track Meets
June 27th - July 25th (no meet on July 4th)
Wednesday Nights
5:30 pm - 9:00 pm
15 volunteers needed to set-up, check-in participants, measure throwing distances, hand out ribbons at finish line, and judge various events. All meets are free to participants and have 16 events running simultaneously and are open to all ages. Meets rely on the help of volunteers - no track experience required!
Family Art Night
Thursday Nights
6:30 pm - 8:30 pm
Cultural Arts Center
1-2 volunteers needed each night to assist instructor with set-up, clean up, distributing art supplies, and helping participants with paint, clay, sculpture and other types of hands-on art projects. |
Park Projects |
Volunteer at Orchard Park!

30 volunteers needed to help to work with REI Park Adopters at Orchard Park! Volunteers will work on disc golf course improvements, remove invasive plants, work in shrub beds, and clean up around play equipment. Tools and supplies provided! After the work is done, join us for a free disc golf clinic and open play at the park - fun for the whole family! |
Cultural Arts Center
Volunteers are needed at the Glenn & Viola Cultural Arts Center to help out with a variety of programs and events. Volunteers can:
- Concerts
- Classroom assistants
- Gallery opening attendants
- Spoken Word
- Family art nights
- Special Events

Get Dirty!
Looking for a group project outdoors? Parks & Recreation can accommodate all ages and group sizes with projects in any of our great parks. Help pick-up litter, work on trails, rake leaves, or remove invasive plants. We provide the tools and and supplies for all projects!
