Station 6 - Cherry Lane

21880 NW Cherry Lane
Hillsboro, OR 97124
(503)681-6166

Dedicated in September 2010, the Cherry Lane Fire Station serves the growing eastern portion of Hillsboro, a mix of single family homes, multi-family apartments, condos, high tech, commercial and light industrial properties.  One career engine company currently responds from this facility.  It is also Hillsboro Fire & Rescue's training facility and includes a 56-seat smart classroom and a number of built-in training aids, such as confined space and rope rescue drill features in the engine bay.

Additionally, the building was designed to be the base for our Volunteer Firefighters.  When called to duty, they respond to incidents aboard Engine 104.   We normally have about 20 active volunteers.  They provide valuable depth to our emergency response capabilities.

This fire station is the first of our fire facilities to be built to LEED Gold Standard.  LEED stands for the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design.  This independent standard sets the criteria for environmentally friendly design and construction which uses locally produced and/or sourced materials, consumes fewer resources and generates fewer greenhouse gas emissions.

The building features:

  • Roof-mounted 21kW solar array producing electricity
  • Bio-swale to retain water runoff and naturally filter surface water
  • State-of-the-art HVAC, air filtration and low volatile organic compound (VOC) paints and carpet
  • Locally-sourced materials from within 500 miles which reduces fuel consumption and air emissions
  • High efficiency lighting and use of natural lighting reduces energy consumption
  • Highly efficient, water saving plumbing features and native plant landscaping reducing water consumption and costs
  • Furniture made with locally sourced and recycled material; wood products from sustainably managed forests
  • Campus-wide recycling program reducing waste sent to landfill; over 90% of construction waste was diverted from the landfill
